Türkbükü and Gölköy

These two fishing villages are  mention in one name, because they are so  close to each other. ıt is located on the peninsula map east of Yalikavak. These delightful spots are the favorite retreats of many well-known Turkish artists, actors and entertainers who appear at  many small bars and restaurants at night. Several of the more popular restaurants are run by Istanbul couples who have fled the big city.

Facing the sea and surrounded by the mountains, GolTurkbuku region  is dotted  by ancient sites.  There are caves and tombstones ın the vicinity of the town. Until  recent times, the local population made their living from farming and fishing. Since the rise of tourism however, GolTurkbuku has become home to a very intellectual group of people; journalists,  men of literature and fine arts who have built desirable homes to get away from the cities.  Restaurants have jetties  to offer fishing feasts for gourmets at night time and swimming possibilities during the day time.

To solve the environmental proplems, the local inhabitants formed an association called the "Turkbuku Village Environmental Protection, Culture and Tourism Society". This very active group have just conducted a film festival and secured the installation of a village sewer system.
